From the records contained in a palm-leaf manuscript belonging to a village accountant (Shanbhog or Patel) of Râmasamudra Agrahara near Châmarajanagaram, the following details concerning the ancestry of Nañjaraja have been obtained.
In the Saka year 1421 called Siddharthi, Krsna Râja of the Yadava kings, accompanied by his elder brother Kântarâja, left Dwarka on the Mâgha S'uddha Das'ami. After spending some time at the court of Krsna Raja at Vijayanagar, both the brothers reached Kalale a city in the vicinity of Mysore. The residents of Kalale were pleased to have them in their midst and accepted the elder brother as their chief, and with the permission of the Ummatur Râja, who was then the Viceroy of the Vijayanagara Raj, Kântarâja was anointed king of Kalale. Seventh in descent from Kântarâja was Karikâlu Mallarâja. The further genealogy is regular which is as follows :
