There are several passages in the Nañjarajayas'obhtsana where the author gives an account of himself. We learn, for instance, that he belonged to the Sanagaral class of Brahmins and his father: was one S'ivarâma. It is probable that this was the same as the S'ivarâma mentioned at the end of each Vilá sa, in which case it may be surmised that our author learnt the Sâstras under his own father, who was himself very pious and learned. The author's Guru' or the religious preceptor was a Sannyasî by name Yogananda. He mentions as his friend a poet by name Tirumalakavi at Alur.
It has already been mentioned that the Nañjarâjayas'obhûsana is a work written on the lines of the Pratâparudrayas'obhúsaņa. The similarity in some places is so striking that the same words and sometimes the same sentences too are found in both the works. The order in the treatment of topics is also similar except in a few places, e. g. Dhvani is treated after Nataka-prakarana and Guņa after Dosas unlike the Pratdparudrayas'obhúşana. In some places, the treatment of subjects and the discussions thereon are more elaborate in the Nañjarâja than in the Pratapa, and in a few places, our author expresses opinions' different from those held by Vidyânâtha.
A list of geographical names is appended at the end and an account and identification of unfamiliar names among them is given in the Sanskrit Introduction. For fuller details, the readers are referred to the volumes of the Mysore Gazeteer
