(1) With the publication of the second volume of the History of Marwar, its author, Pandit Bisheshwar Nath Reu brings to a close the assiduous work of some 13 years. He is to be congratulated on his achievement-not only for the pains he has taken in establishing the historical facts relating to Rathor History in a most scholarly manner, but on the general appreciation of the work as voiced by research scholars and learned societies in and out of India.

To marshal historical facts over such an extended period from diverse sources is no small achievement but Pandit Bisheshwar Nath has gone further than this in, that he has endeavoured to quote the source of the information presented.
That historians generally realise that the work is an attempt to throw light on an obscure period is obvious from the opinions they have expressed. That they accept the marshalling of the facts, and the evidence laid is however equally obvious.

Pandit Bisheshwar Nath in completing a work which hung fire some 39 years prior to the commencement of his labours, has placed Marwar in particular and history in general under a debt of gratitude.
