રાજા રૂદ્રદામાનો રાજ્ય અધિકાર.

અલબત ઈતિહાસકારોએ આ દલીલને બહુ ઓછું વજુદ આપ્યું છે. રાયચૌધરી વિગેરે ઈતિહાસકોએ ક્ષહરાટ વંશને ભૂમક અને ચટ્ટનના પિતામહ ઝામેતિક બને ભિન્ન વ્યક્તિઓ છે એમ બતાવ્યું છે અને અત્યાર સુધી તે મનાતું આવે છે. પરંતુ વિચાર કરતાં મને એમ લાગે છે કે ગ્રામેતિક અને ભૂમક બને એકજ લેવા જોઈએ. શક શબ્દ આર્ય ભાષામાં પલટાયેલો હોવો જોઈએ. અર્થાત ગ્રામેતિકનો અનુવાદ ભૂમક (સંસ્કૃતમાં) કરી લેવાયો હોય તે તદ્દન સંભવિત છે. પરંતુ એટલું તો ખરૂંજ કે તે (બે હોય તે પણ) બને શક જાતિના હતા. તેના કુળ વિશે તેમણે ખાસ કશું કહ્યું નથી.
રેસને તેના કુળ વિશે કાંઈક વિશેષ પ્રકાશ પાડ્યો છે અને તે કાર્દમકકુળને હોવા વિશે ઉલ્લેખ કરતાં એમ બતાવે છે કે –
એ કામક કુળનું મૂળ ઈરાન-પાથયાના પ્રદેશમાં કાઈમ નદી આવેલી છે, અને ત્યાંના આ લેકો રહેવાસી હોય તે તે નદીના નામથી આ વંશનું નામ કર્દમવંશ પડ્યું હોય એ સાવ સંભવિત છે. '
વળી રૂદ્રદામાની પુત્રી પિતાને કામક કુળની ઓળખાવીને ગર્વ ધરતી હતી. એ પણ એક કારણ છે. ' અર્થાત્ આ નદીના નામથી અને પેલા લેખથી એમ માનવાને કારણે મળે છે કે તે મૂળે કામક કુળના હતા.
