आत्मानुशासन
freedom from attachment are the guards, the path (of the Three Jewels, ratnatraya) is straight (free from deceitfulness) with abundance of water of tranquility, and compassion is the shade; such a journey, removing all obstructions and hindrances on the way, reaches the ascetic to his desired destination (of liberation).
मिथ्या दृष्टिविषान् वदन्ति फणिनो दृष्टं तदा सुस्फुटं यासामर्धविलोकनैरपि जगदंदह्यते सर्वतः । तास्त्वय्येव विलोमवर्तिनि भृशं भ्राम्यन्ति बद्धक्रुधः स्त्रीरूपेण विषं हि केवलमतस्तद्गोचरं मा स्म गाः ॥१२६॥
अर्थ - व्यवहारी जन जो सर्पो को दृष्टिविष कहते हैं वह असत्य है, क्योंकि, वह दृष्टिविषत्व तो उन स्त्रियों में स्पष्टतया देखा जाता है जिनके अर्धविलोकन रूप कटाक्षों के द्वारा ही संसार (प्राणी) सब और से अत्यधिक संतप्त होता है। हे साधो! तू जो उनके विरुद्ध आचरण कर रहा है सो वे तेरे ही विषय में अत्यधिक क्रोध को प्राप्त होकर इधर-उधर घूम रही हैं। वे स्त्री के रूप में केवल विष ही हैं। इसीलिये तू उनका विषय न बन।
People call certain kinds of cobras that eject venom into the eyes of the onlooker, drstivisa'; this is not appropriate.
