The Yogadarsitayurayam argues that this dialectic undermines the intellect! Just as the body is exercised, made to do physical exercises, intricate movements are played, tricks and tactics are played in the wrestling arena, the dialectic similarly exercises the intellect in this gymnasium of logic, makes it do the exercises of reasoning, plays the intricate games of arguments, and engages in the tricks and tactics of fallacies and sophistry! "The victorious party is the one with greater erudition!" Just as the stronger wrestler overpowers and defeats the weaker wrestler in the arena, similarly the more acute intellect of the dialectician defeats and vanquishes the less intelligent opponent in this gymnasium of logic! Further, just as the stronger wrestler even defeats the previously victorious wrestler according to the principle of "the stronger overcomes the strong," similarly the dialectician who is victorious is in turn defeated by an even more sophisticated dialectician! Thus, just as the tradition of wrestling continues and the battle of wrestlers never ends, similarly the tradition of dialectic continues and the battle of intellects never concludes! But despite this endless dialectic, one is not able to conclusively establish any definite proposition about the nature of reality! On the contrary, according to the principle of "the tree gets uprooted in the fight between the bulls," in this melee of dialectics, the tree of reality gets completely uprooted and the true nature of things remains inaccessible. As the profound nectar-like words of Mahatma Anandaghanaji state: "Reasoning contemplates, the tradition of dialectic, but none can reach the end; what is asserted about the nature of things, that is rarely seen in the world. I shall behold the other Jina path."
The Abhyarachaya states:
"The objects that are beyond the senses are known through the dialectic. Thus, the certainty about 246 such transcendental objects is established in a short time through the dialectic." - In a short time, through the dialectic (hetu-vada, logical reasoning), the 246 transcendental objects were known, and the certainty about them was established by the wise. The objects that are beyond the senses were known through the dialectic, the logical reasoning, in a short time, and the certainty about them was thus attained.
