કારણ કે આ મહાનુભાવ મુમુક્ષુ આ મન-મટના તરકટને સારી પેઠે જાણે છે. કાઇ પણ કાર્ય કરતાં આ મનરૂપ વાંદરૂ જ્યાં ત્યાં દોડયા કરે છે–ફેકાયા કરે છે, વિક્ષેપ પામે છે. માટે તેને છૂટુ-રે ન મૂકવુ. જોઈએ એમ તે સમજે છે. ‘મનડું મહી કારણ કે તે ચિતવે છે કે-રાત્રે કે દિવસે, વસતિમાં કે ઉજ્જડ સ્થાનમાં ન માગેઃ ગમે ત્યારે આ મન ઘડીકમાં આકાશમાં ને ઘડીકમાં પાતાલમાં જાય છે! મુક્તિના અભિલાષી એવા તપસ્વીએ જ્ઞાન-ધ્યાનના અભ્યાસ કરે છે, ત્યાં તે આ દુશ્મન જેવું મન કંઈક એવુ· ચિ'તવે છે કે જેથી તે અવળે પાસે નાંખી દે છેઉધે રવાડે ચડાવી દ્યે છે ! મેાટા મેાટા શાસ્ત્રના જાણકાર જે ‘આગમધર' કહેવાય છે. તેમના હાથે પણ આ મનડું કાઈ પણ પ્રકારે અંકાતું નથી-મદોન્મત્ત હાથીની જેમ અંકુશમાં આણી શકાતું નથી ! અને કયાંક જો તેને હઠ કરીને હડકાવવામાં આવે છે-તિરસ્કાર કરીને કૂતરાની જેમ હડધૂત કરવામાં આવે છે, તે તે વ્યાલની જેમ વાંકુ થઈને બેસે છે, ઉલટુ આડુ ફાટે છે! આ મનને જો ઠગ કહીએ તે ઠગતું દેખાતું નથી, ને શાહુકાર પણ તે છે નહિ ! તે બધાયમાં છે તે બધાયથી અલગુ' છે! એ આશ્ચય મનમાં ઉપજે છે! ને મનમાં સમાય છે! હું જે જે કહું છું તે તે આ દુન કાને ધરતા નથી, ને કાલે!' આપમતે રહે છે ! ગમે તે સુર, નર કે પ'ડિતજન સમજાવે તે પણ આ મ્હારા શાળા-મહા રેશાળા સમજાવ્યેા સમજે એમ નથી! હુ તે જાણતા હતા કે આ મન નપુ‘સકિલગી છે, પણ આ તે બધાય · મરદને ઠેલે મારે છે-ડેએ ચડાવે છે ! બીજી વાતમાં તે ‘પુરુષ' સમથ છે, પણ આ મનડાને કાઇ જેર કરી શકતું નથી! મન આવુ દુરારાધ્ય છે, રીઝવવુ’–શ કરવું મુશ્કેલ છે, માટે મન સાધ્યું તેણે સઘળું સાધ્યું' એ વાત હું ખેાટી માનતા નથી. આવા મનને હું જેમ જેમ જતન કરીને રાખવા જઉં છું, તેમ તેમ તે અળગું ને અળગું ભાગતું જાય છે ! કઇ રીતે ખાઋતુ' નથી ! ઠેકાણે આવતું નથી !
મનડુ* કિંમહી ન ખાઝે હૈ। કુ'થુ જિન ! મનડુ· કિમહી ન ખાઝે; જિમ જિમ જતન કરીને રાખુ', તિમ તિમ અળગુ` ભાજે...હા કુથુ રજની વાસર વસતિ ઉજડ, ગયણ પાયાલે જાય.
સાપ ખાય ને મુખડુ' થેાથુ, એહ ઉખાણા ન્યાય....હા કુંથુ મુક્તિ તણા અભિલાષી તપિયા, જ્ઞાન ને ધ્યાન અભ્યાસે; વયરીડું કાંઇ એહવું. ચિંતે, નાંખે અવળે પાસે....હા કુથુ આગમ આગમધરને હાથે, ના'વે Øિવિધિ આંકુ;
કહાં કર્ણે જે હઠ કરી હટકુ, તેા બ્યાલ તણી પરે વાંકું....હા કુંથુ
ઠગ કહું તે ઠગતું ન દેખું, શાહુકાર પણ નાંહિ;
સહુ માંહે ને સહુથી અળગુ', એ અચરજ મનમાંહિ...હા કુંથુ
