ગદષ્ટિસમુચ્ચય કેઈ નોકર હોય તે શેઠની આજ્ઞા ન પાળે, ને કહે કે હું તેને સેવક આજ્ઞારાધન છું, એ કેમ બને ? આ તે “ચાકર તેરા, કહ્યા નહિં કરું” એના સેવા દેહલી જે ઘાટ થયે ! સાચો સેવક હોય, તે તે ખડે પગે શેઠની સેવામાં–
ખીજમતમાં હાજર રહી, તેની આજ્ઞા કદી ઉત્થાપે નહિં. તેમ સાચે ભક્ત સેવક પણ પ્રભુની આજ્ઞાનું પાલન કરવા સદા તત્પર રહે છે; ને અહિંસા, સત્ય, અસ્તેય, બ્રહ્મચર્ય, અસંગતા, ગુરુભક્તિ, તપ, જ્ઞાન એ સત્પુથી પ્રભુની પૂજા કરે છે.
“સારી વિધિ સેવા સારતાં, આણ ન કાંઈ ભાંજે;
હુકમ હાજર ખીજમતી કરતાં, સહેજે નાથ નિવાજે.”—શ્રી દેવચંદ્રજી બાકી મુગ્ધ ભેળા જન તે એમ માને છે કે પ્રભુની સેવા સહેલી છે, સેહલી છે, સુગમ છે. “જે જે, જે જે કર્યા કે ટીલા ટપકાં કે ચાંદલા કર્યા, કે નૈવેદ્ય ભોગ ધર્યા એટલે બસ પત્યું ! પ્રભુ પ્રસન્ન ! પણ પ્રભુ કાંઈ એવા ભેળા નથી, ને એની સેવા પણ એવી હેલી નથી, સેહલી નથી, ઘણું જ દેહલી છે. કારણ કે
મુગધ સુગમ કરી સેવન આદરે, સેવન અગમ અનૂપ; દેજે કદાચિત સેવક યાચના, આનંદઘન રસરૂપ..સંભવ–શ્રી આનંદઘનજી “શિવગતિ જિનવર દેવ, સેવ આ દેહલી હો લાલ, પર પરિણતિ પરિત્યાગ કરે, તસુ સેહલી હો લાલ૦ આશ્રવ સર્વ નિવારી, જેહ સંવર ધરે હો લાલ, જે જિન આણુ લીન, પીન સેવન કરે છે લાલ.૦–શ્રી દેવચંદ્રજી
આવી આ ભગવંતની ભક્તિ-ઉપાસના એ સૌથી મોટી વસ્તુ છે, એટલા માટે ભક્તિને અપૂર્વ મહિમા સર્વ ધર્મોમાં ઘણો ગાવામાં આવ્યો છે. ગીતામાં કહ્યું છે કે-“સર્વ યેગીઓમાં પણ મને પામેલા-મહારામાં રહેલા અંતરાત્માથી જે શ્રદ્ધાવાનું મને ભજે છે, તે મહારે મન યુક્તતમ છે.” અને પરમ ધમ ધુરંધર ન્યાયાચાર્ય શ્રીમાન યશોવિજયજીએ તે એટલે સુધી કહ્યું છે કે:-“મેં શાસ્ત્રસમુદ્રનુંxx અવગાહન કર્યું, તેમાંથી મને આટલે જ સાર મળે છે કે–ભગવંતની ભક્તિ એ જ પરમાનંદ સંપદાઓનું બીજ છે.”

The Gita says, "Of all yogis, he who is devoted to me, who dwells in me, who is full of faith, and who worships me with his heart, is the most dear to me." And the great Dharma scholar, Acharya Shriman Yashovijayji, has said, "I have studied the ocean of scriptures, and from it, I have found only this truth: devotion to the Lord is the seed of all happiness and wealth."
