भावार्थ : पर के आश्रित भावों के कर्तृत्व आदि के अभिमान से अज्ञानी प्राणी कर्म से बद्ध होता है, परन्तु ज्ञानी पुरुष उससे लिप्त नहीं होता । अब यह निश्चय हो गया कि आत्मा पराश्रित (अपने से अतिरिक्त पुद्गलादि के आश्रित रहे हुए) भावों=पर्यायों का = पुद्गलपर्यायजनित कार्यों का, कर्त्ता नहीं है । तथापि भ्रमणवश अपने से अतिरिक्त पुद्गलादि आश्रित पर्यायों का यानी उनसे उत्पन्न हुए कार्यों के कर्तृत्व, भोक्तत्व आदि के अभिमानवश ‘मैं करता हूँ,' 'मैं भोगता हूँ' इस प्रकार की बुद्धि से तत्त्वबोध रहित अज्ञानी जीव कर्मों से बंध जाता है; किन्तु इसके विपरीत ज्ञानी पुरुष इस भ्रम में नहीं आकर आत्मा को केवल स्वभाव का कर्त्ता मानता है, पुद्गलादि पर्यायजनित कार्यों का अपने को कर्ता-भोक्ता नहीं मानता, इसलिए वह (तत्त्वज्ञ) उस कर्मबन्धन से लिप्त (बद्ध) नहीं होता ॥ १०९ ॥ कर्तेवमात्मा नो पुण्यपापयोरपि कर्मणोः । रागद्वेषाशयानां तु कर्तेष्टानिष्टवस्तुषु ॥११०॥
भावार्थ : इस प्रकार आत्मा पुण्य और पापरूप कर्म का भी कर्त्ता नहीं है, परन्तु इष्ट और अनिष्ट वस्तु के विषय में राग और द्वेष के परिणामों का कर्त्ता है ॥ ११०॥
रज्यते द्वेष्टि वार्थेषु तत्तत्कार्यविकल्पतः । आत्मा यदा - तदा कर्म भ्रमादात्मनि युज्यते ॥ १११ ॥
