चेतनाऽहं करोमीति बुद्धेर्भेदाग्रहात् स्मयः । एतन्नाशेऽनवच्छिन्नं चैतन्यं मोक्ष इष्यते ॥ ५२ ॥

भावार्थ : “मैं चेतन हूँ. मैं आत्मा यह सब करता हूँ,' इस प्रकार बुद्धि का (आत्मा के साथ) अभेद मानने से अहंकार होता है । इस अहंकार का नाश होने पर अविच्छिन्न चैतन्य रहता है, वही मोक्ष कहलाता है ॥५२॥
कर्तृबुद्धिगते दुःखसुखे पुंस्युपचारत: । नरनाथे यथाभृत्यगतौ जयपराजयौ ॥ ५३ ॥
भावार्थ : जैसे सेवक की जय-पराजय का राजा में उपचार होता है; वैसे ही कर्त्तारूप बुद्धि के सुखदुःख का आत्मा (पुरुष) में उपचार किया जाता है ॥५३॥ कर्त्ता भोक्ता च नो तस्मादात्मा नित्यो निरंजन: । अध्यातसादन्यथाबुद्धिस्तथाचोक्तं महात्मना ॥५४॥
भावार्थ : इस कारण आत्मा कर्ता और भोक्ता नहीं है तथा वह नित्य और निरंजन है । परन्तु अध्यास के कारण उस पर अन्यथाबुद्धि यानी अतथ्य (असत्य) ज्ञान पुरुष को होता है । इस प्रकार महात्मा कपिल ने कहा है ॥५४॥
प्रकृतेः क्रियमाणानि गुणैः कर्माणि सर्वथा । अहंकारविमूढात्मा कर्त्ताऽहमिति मन्यते ॥ ५५ ॥
