संयोगः समवायश्च सामान्यं च विशिष्टता । निषिध्यते पदार्थानां त एव न तु सर्वथा ॥२८॥
भावार्थ : पदार्थो के संयोग, समवाय और सामान्यविशेष का ही निषेध किया जाता है; परन्तु उन पदार्थों का सर्वथा निषेध नहीं किया जाता ॥२८॥ शुद्धं व्युत्पत्तिमज्जीवपदं सार्थं घटादिवत् । तदर्थश्च शरीरं नो पर्यायपदभेदतः ॥२९॥
भावार्थ : घट आदि शब्दों की तरह जीवशब्द शुद्ध है और व्युत्पत्तियुक्त है, और इस कारण वह समर्थ है । जीव शब्द का व्युत्पत्तिलभ्य अर्थ शरीर नहीं हो सकता, क्योंकि जीव शब्द के पर्यायवाची शब्दों में शरीररूप अर्थ नहीं है ॥२९॥ आत्मा व्यवस्थितेस्त्याज्यं ततश्चार्वाकदर्शनम् । पापाः किलैतदालापाः सद्व्यापारविरोधिनः ॥३०॥
भावार्थ : इस प्रकार आत्मा की व्यवस्था (सिद्धि) हो जाती है, इसलिए चार्वाकदर्शन (मत) त्याज्य है; क्योंकि उसके आलाप (भाषण) पापमय हैं और शुभ व्यापार (प्रवृत्ति) के विरोधी है ॥३०॥ ज्ञानक्षणावलीरूपो नित्यो नात्मेति सौगताः । क्रमाक्रमाभ्यां नित्यत्वे युज्यतेऽर्थक्रिया न हि ॥३१॥ १४२
