Pandey and Narayan Vyas, An Early Temple in Gujarat : Excavation at Goraj (Mahadevpura) Puratattva No. 20, 1989-90, New Delhi, P.109. 57. ગોરજ નન્દીના સમયાંકન અંગે પ્રો.મધુસૂદન ઢાંકી સાથેની ચર્ચા-વિચારણા ખૂબ ઉપકારક થઈ છે. તદ્અનુસાર ઢાંકીએ ઉત્તર જાવા (ઇન્ડોનોશિયા) મધ્યે આ સમયની અલંકાર વિહીન એક નન્દીપ્રતિમા જોયાનું કહ્યું હતું. જોગાનુંજોગ ગોરજ પ્રતિમા પણ આભૂષણો વગરની છે. આથી કહી શકાય કે અલંકારો રહિત સાદી નન્દી પ્રતિમાઓ પ્રાચીન છે. એટલું જ નહી ઉપરોક્ત બેય નંદી શિલ્પો સમકાલીન છે. ચર્ચા નિકર્ષને ગ્રાહ્ય રાખીએ તો ઉ.જાવા-ગોરજ પહેલાંના સમયના કોઈ નંદીશિલ્પો અદ્યાપિ પર્યત તો અન્યત્ર કયાંયથી મળ્યા નથી. અને આથી જ બેય પ્રાણી શિલ્પોને સૌથી પ્રાચીન ગણવામાં હરકત નથી. 58. ગોરજ નન્દીમંડપ કે ઇંટેરી મૂળ નંદીની જગ્યા અંગેની સ્થળ પર ચર્ચા કરવા માટે લેખક એ.એસ.આઇના,
