CRITICAL NOTES : CHAPTER VII ___112. (1) I. तिस for रस । (2) I. मास्यका; it is read पर्यमा in the BrihatSamhita ; but in lines 167, 255 of our text it is olearly पार्य (देव)। (3) J. देवस्समर्यक, A. F. मार्यकरस्थितिः ।
The Codex Archetypus leaves out the next two lines, 113–114, which have been preserved by all other M88; their presence between 112 and 115 is necessary.
113. A. C. F. बिंब इति कथ्यते । 114. मित्रस्यम् is another grammatically impossible form. 115. (1) I. नच, apparently for नव, in place of रस । 116. I. विशादी, A. F. वोशादी, J. शिादी। 117. (1) A. F. वर्षे कंठे चाश्रित मारितं; J. शाश्रय ।
(2) The form सर्वे must be connected with either पदे or करें (most likely with the latter), both of which are in the loc. sing. सर्व is apparently taken as a noun and the form सर्वे is used for सर्वस्मिन् in the loc sing. This is really a very good illustration of the ungrammatioal style of Sanskrit used in the Västusāstra.
118. I. A. F. भूतर for भूघर। 119. A. F. पादे चौथे च, J. तत्पदं for पदे सौम्ये।
120. (1) A. F. दनंमे for पूर्वे। (2) I. J. सविन्द्रकम् ; the emendation, सवित्रकः, suggested by A.C.F., is necessitated by the faot that the deity afar is described in the line immediately following.
121. A. F. पूर्वदेशोवीयं रसामिंदु। 122. A. F. रसा।
126. (1) I. विंश, J. ग्रंश, A. F. गैद्रं ईशे। (2) I. मय for जय, suggested by J. and the other Mss., and supported by later references.
126. (1) I. अन्तं च ते । (2) A. F. ब्राह्म देशे च। 127. (1) J. इन्द्र। (2) I. अनिः, J. अग्निं । (3) J. पदानिके । 128. I. त्येद for त्येक । 130. J. चरिड, A. F. चंद्र। 131. J. चेश , other Mss, for सत्यक ।
