CRITICAL NOTES.
CHAPTER III 1. I. afekt for second UFEHTI 2. J. Q UI 3. I. J. atu for UTI
4. (1) I. J. ETTE for TT; the error seems to be due to & slip of pen of the copyists. (2) J. Arafa, A. stefa. I. ufaft, the emendation suggested by the other Mss. seems doubtless.
6. J. Tagfar for STERFI
By some extraordinary and most annoying oonfusion, which will be seen repeated several times in the text, I. J. read, between lines 6 and 7, first, the lines 15-17 and then lines 30-31. The adjustment is unavoidably necessary, and fortunately it is warranted by the undoubted link of sense, and its correctness is guaranteed by the other M88.
7. A. ct for at i 9. (1) I. ATUA ET Tej fafed farfemet ETICA TUTI
J. अधिक-स्यन्दनं शिल्पी शिविकाचारथं तथा। Neither of these readings bears any sense. The emendation is suggested by the other Mss. and is supported by the contents of the 43rd chapter, which deals with the conveyance.
(2) farfen is apparently for freuz (vocative). 10. J. Aa; på would certainly give a better meaning. 11. (1) I. THAM for Anti
(2) A. साल, B. फाल for फलक। 13. (1) A. afraids itfafa: 1
(2) धरादिमिः is apparently an adjective to चतुर्विधम् and should be in the nominative singular, as it is, it bears no sense.
14. (1) B. UTFEE ET ETUI
From the contents of the first line the expression would appear as TER for gifceTATI (2) I. J. read #fe (without a case epding).
