SOME CORRECTIONS TO "A VERSION OF HIR AND RANJHA."
[As THANSLATED BY MR. HA ROSE, I.C.8. (Retired).] By C. R. SINGHAL, PRINCE OF WALES MUSEUM, BOMBAY.
Introduction. " It was in the year 1925 that my attention was first drawn to the article entitled "A Version of Hir and Ranjha," by Mr. H. A. Rose, I.C.S. (Retd.), published in the issues of the Indian Antiquary for the months of September and Novembr 1925. As I could not get the original text of the compiler Asa Singh and as the Editors of the Indian Antiquary could not find space to print & complete translation that was prepared by me in 1926, to socure oontinuity of style and treatment and to present the whole tran lation as a single readable unit, I have set out below those lines only in respect of which I consider that corrections should be made in the version published, with Mr. Rose's translation and my emendation placed in juxtaposition. The text printed below is that used by Mr. Rose in his article referred to above.
