The events of these recitals transpire in Rayagiha, Sagêta, Våņiyagama, Hatthihapura. The names of the personages involved are to be extracted from the ledrikás, which eite the titles of the 33 ajjhayaņas; viz. :

Our information in reference to these persons is limited almost entirely to their names (325) alone. In the first history of JAli), which is a prototype of the rest, it is at least related that he ekkárasa asingáisi ahijjati.
It is surprising that the table of contents in anga 4, or Nandi (N) is particularly explicit. This is probably to be explained by the fact that it had as its subject an entirely different text from that which we possess.
