Gamg-ánvaya iti || The origin of the name, as well as of that of “Having attained the condition of being of Gångêya-varháa' or the Gangêya lineage" without sons, (and) being excessively distressed which is used in the dates of the grants of for a long time (on that account),--he, [TurDévêndravarm and Satyavarmâ, is professedly Vasu], the best of kings, practising self-restraint, explained in II. 16-19 of the grant of Saka propitiated (the river Ganga, the bestower of 1040 mentioned above. This passage occurs boons, that is to be propitiated, and obtained a in the mythological genealogy, anterior to son, the unconquerable Gangê y a; and, comVirasimha, the alleged historical founder of the mencing from that time, the succession of his family. After mentioning Turvasu, the son of descendants has been victorious in the world Yayâti, it proceeds,
