________________ (7) gives the divisions of Vyañjanā as follows : Vyañjana Šābdi Arthi Abhidhā Mūlā Lakşanālūlā Śābdi Abhidhā Mülā Vyañjana It brings into comprehension an idea other than the conventional one when the expressive power of word (Abhidhā) having more possible meaning than one is restricted to one meaning by such restrictive factors as conjunction, disjunction and the like. Laksana mula Vyañjanā It is linked with Lakşanā. It comes into operation when Laksanā ceases after indicating secondary meaning of words for which it is charged. Thereafter Vyañjanā conveys the motive for whose sake Laksaņā is resorted to. Arthi Vyañjanā It conveys suggested meaning being aided by the circumstantial factors such as the speciality of the speaker, person spoken to, time, place context and other allied things. IIIrd Kirana of the Kaustubha is devoted to the concept and classification of Dhvani. Dhvani is the most prevalent and prominent system of Skt Poetics and has been accepted as canonical by all important writers like Abhinava Gupta, Mammața etc. coming after Ananda Vardhana who designed it. The system beautifully elaborates the art of suggestion in poetry and is reckoned as the most necessary and fundamental system of all higher poetry. The term Dhvani in the system is wider in scope and covers under its denotation rot only the poetry par excellence (uttama kāvya) but the suggestive element, be it śabda or its primary meaning, suggested sense (vyañgyārtha) and even the function Vyañjanā which conveys the suggested meaning in poetry.
