छन्दोदर्शनम
Oh Sarasvati ! you are said to be that Brahma who is not perceptible, because that Brahma is in you. Through you, Brahma became manifest . in the form of the universe. You are the wife or the power of Brahmanaspati. You are, indeed, the personification of Brahma, the Great.
अन्वयभाष्यम्। हे सरस्वति ! त्वं नामरूपादिरहितं निर्गुणं इति श्रुतं तत्-परोक्षं परं वस्तु ब्रह्म इति प्रत्यक्षं अभिधा: अभिहितवती, अतः तद् ब्रह्मवस्तु त्वे त्वयि हितं अन्तर्हितं वाच्यार्थरूपेण, तस्मात् त्वत् त्वत्तः तद् ब्रह्म विश्वथा विश्वरूपेण आविरभूत् प्रादुर्बभूव, या त्वं ब्रह्मणस्पतेः सतः तस्य सद्वस्तुनः परमपुरुषस्य परब्रह्मणः जाया शक्तिः सती वागेव प्रसिद्धा तस्य ब्रह्मण: प्रत्यक्षसिद्धा परा प्रतिमा इति ॥
COMMENTARY-SUMMARY TRANSLATION Oh Sarasvati ! you have said that Brahma is perceptible, though He has no name or form. That Brahma is in you in the form of word. Further, it is through you that Brahma became manifest in the form of this universe. You are as it were the wife or the power of that eternal Brahmanaspati. Vāk, you are that indeed. You are indeed the direct means of knowing Him.
पश्चमी ऋक् । सरस्वति त्वं बृहती सम्परीता ब्रह्मैवानु प्रत्येषि परमे व्योमन् ॥ भूयः प्रत्याऽऽययसि ब्रह्म तद् वाचा
वाग् विदा प्रतिमा ब्रह्मणः सा परी ॥५॥ पदपाठः- सरस्वति । त्वम् । बृहती । सम् । पार। इता ।
ब्रह्म । एव । अनु । प्रति। ऋता। परमे। विऽऔमन् । भूयः । प्रति । आऽअययास । ब्रह्म । तत् । वाचा । वाक् । विदा । प्रतिऽमा । ब्रह्मणः। सा। परा ॥
Oh Sarasvati ! you are the great one; you are all-pervasive, and are filling the high skies like Brahma, and are along with Him. In fact, you lead us to Brahma through true words. You are indeed the personification of Brahma, the Great.
