COMMENTARY_SUMMARY TRANSLATION
Born of the light of lightning, she makes a fine sound in the sky. She is the mother of the universe, capable of generating the universe and of revising the universe. She is blowing in the sky a sweet sound. She is one with Rudra. She is the light of lightning combined with sound and full of essence. She is the wife of Rudra and reputed to be so. She is invisible as a heavenly being in the sky, but she flows here on earth as Gangă, the goddess of Waters. I worship her with great devotion as the only resort for the purification of my soul.
द्वितीया ऋक् । महीं मातरं विश्वस्यैव योनि दिव्यां रुद्रेण स्वः सवन्ती भुवम् ॥ रुद्राणी रुद्रत तामिमां गङ्गा
मपो देवीः शरणं प्रति प्र पंद्ये ॥२॥ पदपाठ :- महीम् । मातरम् । विश्वस्य । ए॒व । योनिम् ।
दिव्याम् । रुद्रेण । स्वरिति स्वः । सवन्तीम् । भुवम् ॥ रुद्राणीम् । रुद्रऽतनूम् । ताम् । इमाम् । गङ्गाम् । अपः । देवीः । शरणम् । प्रति । प्र। पद्ये ॥
She (Ganges ) is the great and the revered one; she is the mother of this universe; she is a heavenly being flowing downward with Rudra to the earth; she is Rudrani, the very body of Rudra. That Ganga, who is the goddess of Waters, I worship and bow down.
अन्वयभाष्यम्। मही महतीं पूज्यां च सती विश्वस्यैव जगतः समग्रस्य योनि आदिकारणभूतां केवलं रसात्मिकां मातरं आदिजननीम, “तमिद् गर्भ प्रथमं दध्र आपः" (ऋ. मं. १०-८२.६) इति ऋङ्मन्त्रवर्णः, “अप एव ससर्जादौ” इति च मनुः || याः आपः स्थूलभूतानां जलानां सूक्ष्मसत्त्वानां रसानां च मूलभूताः विद्युच्छक्तेरपि आश्रयभूता: भवन्ति, याभ्यश्च पुनः विद्युदाविर्भवति, ता एवात्र अपशब्दाही इति भावः ॥
दिव्यां द्युलोकस्थतेजःसम्बन्धिनी रुद्रेण विद्युदात्मना विश्वप्राणसत्त्वेन सह स्वः दिवः सकाशात् भुवं प्रति संस्रवन्तीं वर्षणतः अवतरन्ती रुद्राणी भगवतः रुद्रस्य पत्नीCD-53
