the universe. Våk is the measure and the invisible mother of the universe and the measure of the great Atman.
अन्वयभाष्यम् । हे सरस्वति ! त्वं तस्य आत्मनः मात्री प्रमात्री सती तेन आत्मना निजेन चेतनेन प्रचोदिता प्रेरिता सती चित्तिभिः चेतनाशक्तिभिः सर्वेषां भूतानां प्रजनित्री प्रजनयित्री योनिः कारणभूता तत्प्रसवहेतुभूतेति यावत् , अत्र “ जनिता मन्त्रे” इति (पा. सू. ६-४-५३) सूत्रात् अस्मिन् मन्त्रे " प्रजनित्री " इति रूपं आर्ष छान्दसम् स्त्रीलिङ्गान्तम् , सा वागेव शब्दब्रह्मरूपा आकाशतन्मात्रात्मिका आकाशादीनां महाभूतानां मूलभूता इति तस्याः सर्वभूतजनयितृत्वम् , तया मात्रया आकाशतन्मात्रारूपया वाचा विश्वं एतद् भूतं भूतजातं सुषुवे ससर्ज सरस्वतीति अध्याहार्यम् , तस्मात् सा वागेव विदा ज्ञानशक्त्या विश्वस्य जगतो माता परा श्रेष्ठतरा, अत एव तज्जनकस्य चेतनात्मनः प्रमात्री च स्वयं भवति। विश्वजनन्या वाचैव तदधिपतेः जगत्पितृत्वं प्रति मीयते, तेन तादात्म्ययोगादिति ||
COMMENTARY-SUMMARY TRANSLATION Oh Sarasvati ! you are the measure of that Ātman. You are inspired by Him who is the very source of all animation. By the various powers of intelligence you produce all the elements in this universe. Vāk, who is Brahma in the form of sound, is the essence of Akasa (Akasa Tanmatra) or ether. Vák is the generator of all elements, such as sky etc. She is the mother of the whole universe. The sound is the essence of Akāśa and with it, she gave birth to all the elements in the universe. She is the measure of the universe and the evidence of Atman.
तृतीया ऋक् । सरस्वति त्वं सती जज्ञे समग्रे ज्योतिरात्मा मात्रया वाचश्चिता ॥ ब्रह्मणो दृक् प्रथमा व्योम तत् परमं
वाग् विदा माता विश्वस्यात्मनः परी ॥ ३॥ पदपाठ :- सरस्वति । त्वम् । सती । जज्ञे । सम् । अप्रै।
ज्योति :ऽआत्मा । मात्रया । वाचः । चिता ॥ ब्रह्मणः । दृक् । प्रथमा । विऽऔम । तत् । परमम् । वाक् । विदा । माता । विश्वस्य । आत्मनः । परा ॥
