Prefacea The University of Bombay has prescribed the Fifteenth Sataka from the Bhagatati Sūtra ( Gosāla Mata-) for the M. A. examination f&t the years 1954 and 1955. It was edited by Dr. P. L. Vaidya as an Appendix to his edition of Uvāsagadasão. But that edition is now out of print and the students, therefore, are finding it difficult to procure the copies of the text. Many students wrote to me requesting me to undertake the publication but I was hesitating—for obvious reasons. I then requested my friend Shri Popatlal Shah, M.L, A., to do something in the matter, and I am glad to state that he immediately promised to defray the entire publication costs and asked me to proceed with the work immediately. It was a very generous gesture on his part and I am indeed very grateful to him for the same.
In the meantime, I had also written to the Trustees of the Shri Godīji Maharaj Jain Temple and charities regarding the difficulty experienced by the students, and the Trustees, though none of them knew me personally, very kindly and generously agreed to publish the text, as well as the commentary, on behalf of their series, viz. The Vijayadevsur Sangh Series. I am indeed grateful to the enlightened Trustees of the above-mentioned charities for their very generous & spontaneous response to my request. I have no doubt that the students of the M, A. class would also be equally grateful to the Trustees for this Dnyāna-Dāna.
