ન્યાયના માર્ગે બરાબર ઉદ્યોગ કરવાથી ધન મેળવવું અશક્ય છે, એમ કણ કહેનાર છે ? હા, એટલું તો જરૂર છે કે શરૂઆતમાં આવતા પ્રતિકૂલ સંયોગો પૈર્યથી સહન કરી લેવા જોઈએ.”–૨૦ સત્યવતી દ્રૌઢિમrg– शाम्यन्ति सर्वाण्यपि दूषणानि यथार्थवादे प्रविजृम्भमाणे । मृगेश्वरे क्रीडति वारणानां सम्भावनीयो हि कुतः प्रचारः? ॥२१॥

યથાર્થવાદ (સત્યવાદ ) જે બરાબર દઢતા ઉપર આવી ગયો હોય, તે તમામ દો પલાયન કરી જાય છે. જ્યાં સિંહ ક્રીડા કરી રહ્યો હોય, ત્યાં હાથીઓને પ્રચાર ક્યાંથી હોઈ શકે ?”—૨૧ कीदृशेऽप्युपद्रवे प्राप्ते नासत्यं वदेत्प्रयातु लक्ष्मीः स्वजना अरातीभवन्त्वकीर्तिः प्रसरीसरीतु ।।
अद्यैव वा मृत्युरुपस्थितोऽस्तु वदेदसत्यं न तथापि धीरः ॥ २२ ॥ - Wealth may be destroyed, relatives may become enemies, ill-fame may spread around, death may approach at this very moment, but a wise person will never tell a lie. ( 22 )
