ચારિત્રને સુધારવા માટે પ્રથમતઃ દુર્વ્યસનને પરિત્યાગ કરી જોઈએ. દુર્બસને અનેક પ્રકારનાં છે, પરંતુ મુખ્યત્વે સાત દુસને-જુગાર, માંસ, મદિરા, વેશ્યા, શિકાર, ચોરી અને પરદારગમન છે.
