This work had been published at least twice before with a Marathi Translation etc. in 1898 and with a Hindi translation in 1914. These editions were based upon single Mss. without any critical apparatus or information about the author, and they have long become unavailable. For the present edition, the previous two printed editions as well as all the available Mss. of the work have been utilised; and the editors and translator have done their utmost to make the work as much useful and interesting to the scholar and devout reader as possible. The introductions in English and Hindi, though based upon the same material, have been written mostly independently; and they are for a scholar supplementary to each other particularly in the matter of references.
The editors are very thankful to the owners of the Mss. used by them, as well as to the Authorities of the Jivarāja Jaina Granthamālā for their continuous zeal and cooperation in the publication of such works.
