The present MS contains only a portion (e.g., 24 verses) of the first chapter of the work. In it the text is accompanied by the author's own commentary. For descriptions of other MSS of the work cf. Oxf. No. 475 and Bik. No. 1105. An edition of the work was published in the Adyar Library Series (Adyar 1945). Beginning of the commentary :
दक्षिणे लक्ष्मणो यस्य वामे च जनकात्मजा । पुरतो मारुतिर्यस्य तं वन्दे रघुनन्दनम् ॥ १॥ आर्यासूनुसमानं प्रणम्यमानं धरासुरैः प्रवरैः। झापाम्ब यातयालं मुगलमालम्बदं कलये ॥२॥ गुरुगणपतिविधि पुत्रौर्नत्वा निखिलकुलदेवताः स्तुत्वा । कुरुते वितिं सुकृतिः सकलकलकुलोद्भवः सोमः ॥ ३ ॥
अथ रागविबोधाभिधं निबन्धं विधिवत्प्रतिपाद्य रागमूलभूतश्रुतिखरादीनां निदानं नादं समासोक्त्या सूचयन् शिष्टाचारोपदिधमनिष्ठनिवारकमिटदायकं श्रेष्ठगुरुदेवतानमस्कारात्मक मङ्गलमाचरति आर्यानन्देत्यादिना।

नत्वा पूर्णोनुवत्रां कमलभवसुतां भारतौं भासयन्तौं
वीणावाद्यं वहन्तौं विमलतरतर्नु पुस्तकं धारयन्तीम् । विनान् संवारयन्तौं भवजलधिगतान् मानवांस्तारयन्तौं शर्मा माणिक्यनामा मतिमनुगतवान् रागरत्नं
तनोति ॥१॥ भेदान् वक्ष्येऽथ रागाणां सारखतमतेन वै । तत्रादौ भैरवाख्यस्य स्त्रियः पुत्राश्च तत्स्नूषाः ॥ २ ॥
