PREFACE
It gives me pleasure to announce the publication of a Jaina Catalogue edited by Dr S. R. Banerjee. The Society possesses a large number of Manuscripts in different languages, such as Sanskrit, Pali, Prakrit, Arabic, Persian, Tibetan, Chinese etc. and I feel that Catalogues of other languages should also be published in a similar way. It is high time now that some of the best unpublished and rare manuscripts be edited by eminent and able scholars to enrich the store-house of our knowledge. The Catalogue of Jaina Manuscripts will, I believe, create enthusiasm among the scholars interested in this branch of study. There are some rare Jaina Manuscripts in the possession of the Society, and it will be our business to see them edited and published.
