In L. 554 the work is attributed to the father, not to the son. The manuscript does not contain the prologue and epilogue of the work. The only colophon attributes the work to Dhundhirāja. ___ In Bik. Cat., p. 343, No. 743, the authorship is attributed to the son in the last colophon. That manuscript, too, is wanting in the prologue and the epilogue.
In the introductory verses the science of astrology is attributed to Brahma in the Satyayuga, to Vādarāyana in the Tretāyuga, to Garga in Dvāpara and in Kali Tārtiyaka or the third system is attributed to the Turks, though they are opposed to Brahma. He advises Brāhmaṇas to study this system, though the Yavanas and the Turks are the founders.

श्रीगणेशाय नमः । भक्तिभक्तजनस्य यस्य भवति प्रीतिप्रतीतिप्रदा
स्नेहो वंशपरम्परापरिगतः सर्वाभिलाषप्रदः । सोऽयं सर्वसुरासुरेन्द्रनिकराराध्यो+लम्बोदरो
__धौरो दुर्जनविनतर्जनकरः श्रेयस्करो नः सदा ॥ १ ॥ तूर्णं यत्करुणाकटाक्षकणिकासंपूर्णसिद्ध्यै भवे
त्तां वाणौं प्रणिपत्य सत्यनिरतं श्रौढुण्डिराज गुरुम् । सारं ताजिकवारिधेर्निरवधेः प्रोत्य पीयूषवत्
कुर्वे ताजिकभूषणं गणपतेर्भक्तो गणेशः सुधीः ॥ २ ॥ गर्गाद्यैर्यवनैश्च रोमकमुखैः सत्यादिभिः कीर्त्तितं
शास्त्रं ताजिकसंज्ञितं निरवधिं तदारिधिं दुस्तरम् । एतत्ताजिकभूषणं नवतरातत्तुं समर्था तरि
व्यक्तामलकोमलोक्तिविलसत्कर्णानुकौर्णा भशम् ॥ ३ ।
