Mayuracitrakam and Mayuracitrakam from
Meghamälä.
Substance, country-made paper. 10 x 4 inches. Folia, 1-10, 2-12. Lines, 11 on a page. Extent in slokas, 550. Character, Nagara. Appearance, good. Complete.
The present manuscript is described in L. X. 4222.
There are two works, separately paged in this manuscript, one Mayura citraka ending in leaf 10, and the other Mayuracitraka from Meghamālā ending in leaf 12. The first leaf of the second work is missing. The total number of the leaves is therefore 21 and not 22, as given in L.
These are astrological treatises, similar in nature, on the forecasting of rains, famines and abundance of crops from the conjunction of particular days, Tithis and asterisms in all the twelve months of the year. Though bearing the name Meghamālā (on the basis of which the MS is described here) the second work does not agree with the work of the same name described previously. Neither is it attributed here to the Rudrayamala.
After the colophon of the second book there occur nine more astrological verses. Then there comes the post colophon statement :
