The name of the author is given as Bhattanāga in some MSS (Mad. XII. 5651ff). The text, along with the commentary, has been printed in the Vividhatantrasamgraha of Rasikmohan Chatterji. The present MS contains the text and commentary of chapters 3-6 inclusive. The introductory portion of the commentary containing the mangalācaraña and the name of the commentator is also given here. After this introductory portion the commentary on the third chapter begins with the following words:----
