little over one thousand, and the Society planned its publication accordingly. But unfortunately the period of quiescence that intervened and held up the publications of the Society during the last few years prevented the issuing of any further Volume of the Descriptive Catalogue after the appearance of the last Volume in 1934. It has been thought desirable therefore - that instead of waiting for another year for the completion of the entire work on the Tantras, the Volume might be issued in two Parts--Part I describing 648 MSS. and numbering 608 pages, and Part II dealing with the rest of some 500 MSS. and of approximately the same size.
The Part I which is now issued deals with the following subjer :
(1) Original Tantras (Nos. 5804-6165). (2) Digests:
A. Comprehensive and general works (Nos. 6166--6298). B. Works dealing with particular deities:
I. Śakti (Nos. 6299-6451) 31,1 The work on Part II of the Volume is making satisfactory
press through the press and it is hoped to issue it in about a r's time. This Part will be divided into four sections and will ctively deal with :
