विरूपाक्ष उवाच ।
चतुष्कोशान्तरे यत्र सल्लिङ्गं दृश्यते परम् । एकलिङ्ग विजानीयात् तत्र सिद्धिरनुत्तमा ॥ चतुष्पथं विजानीयात् मुद्रास्ते तारिणौशिला (?)। तत्र यत्नेन गन्तव्यं जप्तव्यं सिद्धिकाङ्गिभिः ॥ इति विरूपाक्षविरचिते मत्स्यसूक्ते सिद्धसंवादे महोग्रताराकल्पे

It belongs to the school of Srividyā. The Tantra speaks of itself as deceptive in object. Bhairava is ordered by Sankara to write Tantras with a view to delude the people of the iron age who are given to sensuousness and debauchery, so that they may, through their vicious propensities, be eager to accept the Tantra for their religion and be hurried down into degeneration. The present work does not agree with the mantrakhanda section of the work of the same name described in Mad., XII, 5657, 5670–2. Beginning:
अनाद्यनन्तमानन्दमप्रति; परं शिवम् । यदन्तर्भाति तत्त्वानां चक्रं तं प्रणमाम्यहम् ॥
