3323. Sivatāndavatantra.

The present MS is accompanied by Nilakantha's commentary and contains chapters XII-XIV of the first part. The commentary is described in HPR. I. 360. In the beginning of the commentary the author refers to several other works by himself, e.g. the commentaries on Mantrabhāgavata, Mantrarāmāyana, and Mantramahabharata. The authoritativeness of the Tantras as also of the mantras, both in Sanskrit and the vernaculars, is discussed and it is argued that the Tantras form part of the Puranas.
The genealogy and the achievements of the family of the royal patron of the commentator are given thus ( Fol. 1B ) :
