The following is the scheme of the Skånda as gleaned from Sutasamhita. It consists of 6 samhitas as follows:
(1) Sanatkumārasamhitā
(2) Sutasamhita
(3) Sankarasamhita
(4) Vaisnavasamhits
(5) Brahmasambitā
(6)
Saurasamhita
and each samhita into khandas numbering in all 50 khandas. Sutasamhita again is dived into 4 khandas as follows:
(1) Sivamahatınyakhaṇḍa
(2) Jnanayogakhanda
(8) Muktikhaṇḍa
(4) Yajñavaibhavakhanda.
This purana is printed at Bombay in Venkatesvara steam press but the printed text does not contain the above division as said in Sutasamhita. It is divided into main Khandas and again into subkhandas and Mahatmyas and so on. But the works herein catalogued adopt into samhitas and khandas as ordained by Sutasamhita though there are no works belonging to some samhitas and khandas. Each samhita is subdivided into khandas.
