Herein the goddess Syāmalá is conceived as a Guru, and tbe Mantra is addressed to the holy sandals worn by the goddess. It is considered to bave the power to enable one to make people become spell-bound and deprived of all physical and mental powers and thus bring them under one's magic control and influence. Beginning:
अस्य श्रीश्यामलागुरुपादुकामन्त्रस्य मतङ्गभगवानृषिः, गायत्री छन्दः, श्यामलागुरुपादुका देवता; ऐं क्लीं सौः इति बीजं, हसक्षमिति शक्तिः, स ह कीलकं, श्यामलागुरुपादुकाप्रीत्यर्थे जपे विनियोगः ।
