Acharya Shri Kailassagarsuri Gyanmandir
SANKARACARYA.
He is the founder of the Advaita school of philosophy and his Brahmasutra bhāṣya is the basic work of the school. His disciples Padmapada and Sureśvara are the earliest writers on their Guru's work. The former is the author of the famous Pañcapadikā (No. 7408) a commentary on the first five pādas of Sankara's Bhagya. This has itself evoked commentaries thereon, out of which the most important are:
(1) Prakāśātmayati's Vivarana (No. 7051). This author has also written another work on the Brahmasutras by name Sarirakanyayamimāmsāsaugraha (No. 7119).
(2) Nrsimhadramin's Vedantaratnak oś. (No. 7065).
The first of these again became the object of further supercommentaries two of which are noticed in this Volume.
(1) Tattvadipana by Akhandananda Muni (No. 7057). (2) Vivaraṇadarpana by Rangarajadhvarin (No. 7064).
The latter is a work of rare value being the only copy available, written by the father of the famous Appayyadiksita. This identification however requires further confirmation. It is written in Nandinagari Script. Besides the above the famous Vidyaranya following Prakāśatman's Vivarana wrote a brief summary of the Brahmasutras named Vivaranaprameya Sangraha (No. 7067).
Suresvara the other disciple of Sankara is the general Varttikakara of all Sankara's works, of whose Vårttikas only one is preserved in this library, the Pañcikaraṇa Varttika (No. 7300).
