Venkatespara, the auther of this prabasana is identical with the author of the Bhosala vemáãvali and Sabhāpativilága Nataka, described already under Nos. 4240 and 4529. This is another work of the same author. The work is not avail. able in print.
The Sanskrit Prabasana resembles to a remarkable degree the farce in the English language. The main purpose is to excite laughter through an appeal to the ludicurous. To a vory large extent the Prahasanas successfully delineate that them. and the laughter engendered is too much in certain cases. The comic turns out to be vulgar in certain cases,
