pilation itself brings together the verses found in the Bhārata, Bhagavata, Vişņu, Dharmottara, Matsya, Narasihma, Närada, Kūrma and other Puriņas.
SURYANĀRĀYANAKAVI.
Suryanārāyana Kavi is the author of the Prásabbärata which is described under No. 9697 and 8698. The author tells us that he belonged to the Kāśyapagotra and that he is the son of one Vibranātha Sumati. The work deals with the story of the Mahabbärata, though no other particulars regarding the author are available, the author, it may be conjectured, belonged to the 17th
century.
AGASTYAPANDITA.
In an article in the Journal of the Mythic Society Vol. X there appeared an article wherein it was surmised, on the basis of a verse in the Pratāparudrsya that Vidyanātha may be identical with Agastya Pandita of Bălabhārata fame and that the term Vidyānátha is only a title, not a name. Assuming the suggestion to be correct, we inay date Agastya in the 14th century. His native place will then be Warangal and his patron, Pratāparadra.
The following works of Agastya are preserved in this library:
i. Pratáparudriya
Balabharatam
iii. Krinacaritam-a prose work
Of these the first will be described in a later Volume. Balabhārata is noticed ander Nos. 3699-8705. The Krapacarita is represented by two copies, numbered 3991 & 92. He is said to have written more than 60 works but most of them are now lost to us.
