VOLUME V.
Volume V describes in detail the manuscripts on Srauta prayoga, numbering 420 (Nos. 285?--??.6). The Volume begins with the description of the seven Soma Samsthas (i.e.,) Agningoma, Atyagniętoma, Ukthya, Å tirátra, şodasi, Aptoryāma and Vã japeya. The manuscripts dealing with each of these samsthās completely are first described in detail. At the end of each complete saņistha, the manuscripts dealing with the prayoga relating to individuel Rtviks are described.
The manuscripts described belong to the three schools of Ābvalāyana, Āpastamba and Budhayana
Independent works on Srauta, dealing with the various schools find a place next to the manuscripts dealing with the prayoga relating to individual Rtviks. These are followed by the description of certain metrical works, technically called Srauta Kirikás. They summarise the procedure to be adopted in the performance of the various sacrifices.
Manuscripts dealing with the expiatory ceremonies (Prayascittas) are dealt with next. Most of these expiatory ceremonios are, it may be observed, in the form of istis. Other miscellaneous iqti-prayogas are described in detail after the prāyascittas. The volume concludes with the description of the manuscripts dealing with the various Sastray.
