A treatise in dancing, gesticulation and dramatic representation. The various subjects dealt with in the work are apparent from the names of the Adbikāras given below. The author is Saradatanaya, whose genealogy is given below:--

Śáradá tanaya (80 named because he was considered to have been born by the grace
of Saradadevi, worshipped at Benares) Lakşmaņa is said to have been a resident of Mäţarapūjya village in the Mērüttara country of the Aryävarta and to have written a commentary on the Vēdas, called Vēdabhūşaņam. The author learnt the Nātyaśāstra from one Divākara. Beginning:
प्रश्च्योतन्मदमन्धरभ्रमरिकाझंकारगीतं मुहुः हेलाबृंहितवादनव्यतिकरं भावोल्लसत्प्रक्रियम् । नृत्यन्नस्तु सुखाय वः करिमुखः पुण्यापहारथिरादानन्दी नटभावितैरिव यथा भावैस्स सामाजिकः ॥ वन्दे बृन्दावनचरं गोविन्दं गोपिकापतिम् । गाः पालयन्तं गायन्तं वेणुना षड्रजवादिना ॥ अम्बिकारसिकापाङ्गमाविःस्मितमुवाम्बुजम् । मजे भुजङ्गललितमहं वैयाघ्रचर्मिणम् ॥ नमामि मानसोल्लासभावनाफलदायिनीम् । शारदां शारदाम्भोजविशदामभयप्रदाम् ॥
