A well-known drama by Kālidāsa. It describes the love between Malavika and Agnimitra and their narriage after the overcoming of the obstacles in the way. Beginning:
एकैश्वर्ये स्थितोऽपि प्रणतबहुफले यः स्वयं कृत्तिवासाः कान्तासंमिश्रदेहोऽप्यविषयमनसां यः पुरस्ताद्यतीनाम् । अष्टाभिर्यस्य कृत्वं जगदपि तनुभिर्बिभ्रतो नाभिमानः सन्मार्गालोकनाय व्यपनयतु स वस्तामसी वृत्तिमीशः ॥
(नान्द्यन्ते) सूत्रधारः- (नेपथ्याभिमुखमवलोक्य) मारिष इतस्तावत् । (प्रविश्य) पारिपार्श्विक:-भाव अयमस्मि ।
सूत्र-अभिहितोऽस्मि परिषदा कालिदासग्रथितवस्तु मालविकामिमित्रं नाम नाटकमस्मिन् वसन्तोत्सवे प्रयोक्तव्यमिति ।
