The well-known historical romance in prose of Bapa, the author of Kadambari, In the first two chapters an account of the genealogy of the author is given and in the remaining six chapters, the exploits of the King Harsa are described. A detailed description of the contents is given in Peterson's introduction to his edition of the Kādambari in the Bombay Sanskrit Series. Beginning:
अविरतशब्दमहौघप्रक्षालितसकलभतलकलङ्का । मुनिमिरुपासिततीर्था सरस्वती हरतु दुरितं वः ॥ नमस्तुङ्गशिरश्चम्बिचन्द्रचामरचारवे ।। त्रैलोक्यनगरारम्भमूलस्तम्भाय शम्भवे ॥ हरकण्ठग्रहानन्दमीलिताक्षी नमाम्युमाम् । कालकूटविषस्पर्शजातमूर्छागमामिव ।। नमः सर्वविदे तस्मै व्यासाय कविवेधसे । चक्रे पुण्यं सरस्वत्या यो वर्षमिव भारतम् ॥ प्रायः कुकवयो लोके रागाधिष्ठितदृष्टयः । कोकिला इव जायन्ते वाचालाः कामकारिणः ॥ सन्ति श्वान इवासङ्ख्या जातिभाजो गृहे गृहे । उत्पादका न बहवः कवयः शरभा इव ।। अन्यवर्ण्य पदारत्त्या बद्धचिह्ननिगूहनैः । अनाख्यातः सतां मध्ये कविश्चोरो विभाव्यते ॥ श्लेषः प्राय उदीच्येषु प्रतीच्येष्वर्थमात्रकम् । . उत्प्रेक्षा दाक्षिणात्येषु गौडेष्वक्षरडम्बरः ।।
