मध्ये ज्या त्रुटिता शरासनमहो भनं दवाग्नेरयं दग्धं जालमकालमेघसलिलैः शान्तश्च दावानलः । श्वागच्छच्छशकाशयाशुगमना सूता मृगा गर्भिणी तामापत्सरितं ततार कृपया देवस्य लक्ष्मीपतेः ॥
A number of works described below can be brought under the heading Anthology which cousists of a collection of choice and pithy stanzas taken generally from different authors. These stanzas deal with a variety of subjects, such as morals, love, devotion, learning, etc. In some cases the stanzas are classified and arranged under suitable titles which will indicate the subject-matter of the stanzas. This is the systematic method of compilation. But it is not invariably the case. Stray stanzas dealing with different subjects are mixed up and are called Cātuslākas. The stanzas generally indicate the meaning plainly while some are 3T7214T stanzas, i.e., those which suggest a meaning different from that which the expressions apparently yield.

चातकस्त्रिचतुरान् पयःकणान् याचते जलधरं पिपासया ।
सोऽपि पूरयति विश्वमम्भसा हन्त हन्त महतामुदारता ॥ End:
कलिन्दकन्यापुलिने कदाचिद् विरिञ्चिनीतानवलोक्य वत्सान् । य आत्मभावेन समस्तवत्सो बभूव तं ब्रह्मनुतं तमीडे ॥
