This copy, it is said in the fly-leaf, was made from a very old copy of the work got from Trichinopoly. According to the colophon, the oommentary is attributed to Tirumalarăja, son of Sri-Rangarāja of Atrāyagātra. The colophon runs as follows :
इति श्रीमदविलदेवतासार्वभौमरघुरामप्रसादलब्धसकलसाम्राज्यसोमान्वयाभरणधरणीवराहात्रेयगोत्रपवित्र श्रीरङ्गराजपुत्रतिरुमलराजविरचितायां गीतगोविन्दव्याख्यायां श्रुतिरञ्जनीसमाख्यायां मुग्धमधुसूदना नाम प्रथमः सर्गः ॥
A note in the margin says that the name of the commeutator given in the colophon is wrong and that it was composed by Lakşmaņasūri.

The text is the same as the above and the commentary, though identical with that of Laksmanasūri, is attributed to Tirumalaraya, son of 'limmāmbā and Sri-Rangarāja of Atrêyagötra. It is kuown that Tirumala was the younger brother of Aliya Rāma Rāya, the son-in-law of Krşnadēva Raya of Vijayanagar, and that after the death of Råma in the battle of Talikota in 1565 A.D. Tirumala changed the capital to Penukonda and ruled for 15 years. He is the patron of Vasucarita in Telugu. His another brother is called Venkatădri.
The introductory verses describe the author's family and greatness.

उपदिशति काव्यजातं स्वप्ने मह्यं पितेव पुत्राय । यद्धाम नीरदाभं सेवे तद्भूमिपुत्रिकाहृद्यम् ॥ अस्ति सोमान्ववायेन्दु . . . . .
(रा)मराजस्ततो जज्ञे दानक्षात्रजनुर्गृहम् । गृहीतान्येकदा येन दश दुर्गाणि विद्विषाम् ।
