This work, which contains a collection of 1,008 epithets of Siva and of Parvati, is prefaced with a number of stanzas giving the Rşi, Chandas, Jēvată, el c., and wound up with a number of other stanzas which enumerate the advantages arising from the reading of this work. Beginning :
कैलासशिखरे रम्ये नानामुनिनिषेविते । कल्प हा कानोकहाक्रान्ते कैवल्यपददायिने ।।
प्रणम्य दण्डवद्भूमौ झटित्युत्थाय संभ्रमात् । हर्षगद्गदया वाचा उवाच वचनं विधिः ।। पुराकल्पे महातेजाः हयग्रीवो महामुनिः । सर्वलोकोपकाराय प्रोक्तवान् कुम्भजन्मने ॥
अस्य नामसहस्रस्य ऋषिभृङ्गिरिटः परः । छन्दो विराट् देवते च कामकामेश्वराभिधौ ।। तारं मायां बीजशक्ती विनियोगः कराङ्गयोः । षडङ्गदेवताभिश्च न्यासं कृत्वा चतुर्मुख ॥ ध्यात्वा च मामकं रूपं गिरिजारूपमद्भुतम् ।। कृत्वा पञ्चोपचारं च जप्त्वा पञ्चदशाक्षरीम् ।। ततस्स्वनामभिर्दिव्यैस्सहस्रैर्वर्णसंहितैः ।। मल्लिकामालतीजातिपुन्नागैस्तुलसीदलैः
