This Vrata consists in the worship of Gauri imagined as being present at the root of the Brhatī tree (the egg-plant); and the worship is conducted on the third day of the dark fortnight in the month of Bhadrapada. The observance of this Vrata is considered to have the power of cleansing one of all sins. Beginning:
हिमालयसुतां देवीं जगन्मातरमम्बिकाम् । ध्यायेऽहं सर्वदा गौरी सर्वमङ्गलदायिनीम् । ध्यानम् । भवानी गिरिजा देवी सर्वसंपत्प्रदायि नीम् ।
शुभदा सर्वदां नणां गौरीमावाहयाम्यहम् ।। आवाहनम् । 480
