Deals with the manner of performing the Vrata of lighting a sacred lamp when the moon is in the asterism called Krttika. This Vrata is conducted with a view to propitiate Visnu in order to get rid of blindness.

Relates the story of how the Pandavas, while in exile in the forest, performed the Ananta vrata on the advice of Śrī Kṛṣṇa and got back their kingdom. The Vrata is intended to propitiate the serpent-god Ananta or Adisesa, and may be performed by men as well as women. It is observed on the fourteenth day of the bright lunar fortnight of the Bhadrapada month.
