This Vrata consists in the worship of the Tulasi plant (holy basil). "The figure of a lotus of eight petals is drawn in front of the plant for the purpose of worship. This Vrata is observed on the twelfth day of the bright fortnight in the month of Ăśvīja, and is considered to have the power of bestowing on one all kinds of blessings, such as long life, learning, strength, children, etc. Beginning : व्यासः
येन चीर्णेन लोकेऽस्मिन् लभन्ते योषितस्सुखम् ।
तद्रतं भगवन् ब्रह्मन् मम ब्रूहि सविस्तरम् ।। ब्रह्मोवाच
शृणु व्यास प्रवक्ष्यामि दुर्लभं व्रतसञ्चये । सर्वलोकेष्वतितरामुत्तमं तुळसीव्रतम् ।।
