अस्य श्रीशनैश्चरकवचस्तोत्रमहामन्त्रस्य कश्यप ऋषिः, अनुष्टुप् छन्दः, शनैश्चरो देवता, शनैश्चरप्र-गः ।
शनैश्चरः शिरो रक्षेत् मुखं भक्तार्तिनाशनः । कर्णी कृष्णाम्बरः पातु नेत्रे सर्वभयङ्करः ।।
End:
य इदं कवचं दिव्यं सर्वपापहरं नृणाम् ।
पठति श्रद्धया युक्तः सर्वान् कामानवाप्नुयात् ।। Colophon:
इति पाद्मपुराणे शनैश्चरकवचं सम्पूर्णम् ॥

It is stated that if a person repeats, near an Asvattha tree, the twelve names of Sagi herein given, he will not be troubled by the evil influence of that planet. It is difficult to make out how the first stanza in the extract below contains all the twelve names of Sani. Beginning and End :
कोणस्थः पिङ्गलो बभ्रुः कृष्णो रौद्रोऽन्तको यमः । सौरिश्शनैश्चरो मन्दः पिप्पलादिषु संस्थितः ।।' एतद् द्वादश नामानि जपेदश्वत्थसन्निधौ ।
शनैश्चरकृता पीडा न कदाचिद्भविष्यति ॥ Colophon:
इति शनैश्चरमन्त्रपारायणविधिः ।
