This Mantra is in praise of the planet Saturn ; and its repetition is considered to have the power to remove all kinds of evils and to confer on one prosperity and protection. Beginning:
शृणुध्वं मुनयस्सर्वे शनिपीडाहरं शुभम् । कवचं ग्रहराजस्य शनेरिदमनुत्तमम् । कवचं देवतावासः कवचं वज्रपञ्जरम् । सर्वपीडाहरश्श्रीमान् सर्वसौभाग्यदायकः ॥ शिरश्शनैश्चरः पातु फालं वै सूर्यसम्भवः ।
नेत्रे संज्ञासुतः पातु श्रोत्रे पातु यमस्तथा ॥ End:
मृत्युस्थानगतो वापि शुभस्थानगतोऽपि वा ।
एतत्ते कवचं सौरेः कवचं ब्रह्मनिर्मितम् ॥ Colophon:
इति स्कान्दपुराणे प्रभासखण्डेऽवशिष्टापदेशो नाम चत्वारिंशाऽध्यायः ॥
